Sola Scriptura (scripture ALONE) is the position held by most Protestant Christian denominations, particularly by Lutherans and Reformed traditions, that holds that the Bible is the sole, infallible, inerrant source of authority and sufficiency for Christian faith and practice.
So why don’t Catholics believe in sola scriptura?
The five ‘solas’ of the Reformation, which distinguish the Reformers from the teachings of Rome, include sola scriptura (Scripture alone), solus Christus (Christ alone), sola fide (faith alone), sola gratia (grace alone), and soli Deo gloria (glory to God alone).
